In 1993, graphic designer brothers Markus and Daniel Freitag were searching for a reliable bag — one that could safely protect its contents in any climate while delivering outstanding functionality. From their home in Zurich, they could see trucks moving along the intersection below. Inspired by the colorful tarps that covered them, the Freitag brothers immediately ran to a nearby factory to gather worn truck tarps, bicycle inner tubes, and seat belts to make a bag. That's how Freitag's first and most famous messenger bag was born.
